Video Tour of AppleTV interface
A few days ago I posted a video of the Apple TV in action and you could see the menu on the TV set, and it did look pretty good and easy to use.
Now here is another video giving you a full tour of the AppleTV interface and once again I'm impressed and didn't expect anything less from Apple.
But I just can't understand why Apple hasn't allowed you to cut out the PC entirely on this one. Getting a new video or music involves going to the PC first and then downloading the video off the net through iTunes.
Why not just let you access iTunes directly through your TV and download the videos you want from there, and then synch everything you download back onto your PC for permanent storage.

(Page 1)2. It looks very limited and slow in some parts. It is apple though, so they have to control what you do. I can guess that the video quality on a decent tv won't be that great. They might sell a couple thousand of these itunes only extenders to the hardcore mac fan who has money to blow.

3. K Remo,
Your 100 bucks against mine on the couple of thousand.
Actually I've already won - Apple have sold the first batch of 100,000 and have another 100,000 on the way. Might be a bigger seller than the Zune even!

1. Wow Chris I thought for a second you were going to write a pro Apple post.
Either way, I agree the interface looks great and is what we have all came to expect from Apple. I can't wait to get mine!
With only a 40GB hard drive this device can't possibly hold everyone's media and creating an interface to control what syncs to a PC from an AppleTV would be less than elegant. Also buying off the iTunes Music store in general would be cumbersome. In the future they may find a way to do this, it would atleast be nice to be able to browse free stuff like podcasts, like we can with movie trailers.
Either way Mac users who get snubbed by MS products, TiVo and Sling Media look forward to having a device that is built for us and integrates with our iLife.
