2. To be honest the TiVo box is not pretty at all, but when you turn it on--you feel you are in full control of your TV--it is exactly what happens when you turn on a PC.

TiVo's remote is incredible superb.

3. Well, that puts the up-front cost below the point where I'd simply consider it an insult. Now how about putting the monthly price somewhere below "stupid"?

I love my Tivo. I bought my first one in 2001, currently use a DTivo, and have sold about a dozen units to friends and family. But there's no way I'd buy a S3 Tivo at these prices, and I certainly wouldn't recommend one.

C'mon Tivo, try to get back to being that company that makes a product your CUSTOMERS want. No, not the advertisers. Us. The people who have kept you running these past seven years.

4. You'd be amazed how many people see "$29.99" and think "$20". It works with a significant number of people, and that's why it is done. Yes, perhaps a bit disingeuous, but not really the kind of thing that can be nailed down as really truly deceptive.

5. Common Tivo..theres competition out there. You need to think about a better deal than that and roll my old lifetime over for free before I bite on that one.

7. I'm currently using a Series 1 *and* an HD DVR from the cable company.

I'd take the S3 for that price, except for the fact that they haven't enabled the SATA connection yet. I'm not paying that much if I need to open it up and put a hard drive in.

10. If I own a lifetime membership on a series 2 box and , if the cost to add an additional box to your tivo set up is bout $7 (not sure for HD service but it seem like ti s the sane $ on the Tivo site) . Why wouldn't u just add an series 3 when the prices come down, keep the existing series 2 box on the Lifetime memebership and add the series 3 to the rest of the system?

I guess they offer free service to your second box for a year, in exchange for paying $300 to transfer your subscription, which seems insane to me.
