As if the SlingCatcher and SlingPlayer for Palm weren't enough for one CES, Sling Media is announcing Clip+Sling, a service that lets you share short clips of live or recorded video with others over the internet.
Clip+Sling isn't a new program, but rather a feature that will be included in the desktop and mobile version of SlingPlayer. Basically, it will let you hit record while you're streaming content from your Slingbox, and post that recording online. Watching live TV from your office during your lunch break, and want to share a clip with a buddy, hit the Clip+Sling record button.
This isn't s way to share entire movies and TV shows. There's always BitTorrent if that's your interest. This is more a way to send Daily Show and SNL clips to your friends. In other words, short clips, you know, the kind that actually provide publicity for the programs you're clipping. Maybe that's why CBS President Leslie Moonves not only endorsed the service, but was on hand to help demonstrate it at CES.
The feature is in private beta testing, with a scheduled mid-year launch date.
