I mentioned a few days ago some sketchy details on the Microsoft Windows Home Server that would allow you to stream and share media between computers, the Xbox 360 and other devices even easier. Now Engadget has released a few more details from the CES 2007 showing that Windows Home Server will be basically used to manage media across multiple Pcs on your home network. It cannot directly stream media to Media Center Extenders, but it can stream media directly to Windows Media Connect-enabled devices.
HP is already down with the Windows Home Server and has announced the HP MediaSmart Server which will help you manage media across multiple PCs and devices in the home, and will provide automatic backup functionality and remote access as well as central file storage and management.
The HP Media Smart Server also compliments the new HP MediaSmart HDTV.
