Here is another alternative to the highly anticipated Apple iTV, the Eureka LX350 HD from ZioCanada. This media extender is a bit on the pricey side at around $320 but packs some serious functionality. To begin with it is HD ready supporting a variety of HD formats and can up convert regular SD video to 1080p. In addition to this the Eureka LX350 supports a large amount of video formats including DivX, Xvid, WMV and more.
Other features include USB connectivity for playback from USB storage devices, a DVI output, ability to play ripped DVDs, and unlike other media extenders it has a hard drive too. I'm not sure how big the hard drive is but I have seen reports of 40GB and 320GB capacities.
Despite coming from a lesser known manufacturer the Eureka LX350 HD has a feature list that makes it one of the best media extenders on the market. I just hope its reliability and ease of use is as good as its feature list.

1. I don't understand how these products can be seen as competitor's to the unreleased, unspeced product that is iTV. iTV is a competitor to all the products it's trying to be, not the only way around.
