Ever want to live in one of those super-futuristic houses where you can control the lights, temperature, and radio all from the TV screen and spy on your kids from the office?
Well Best Buy wants you to live that dream... for $15,000.
Best Buy's ConnectedLife.Home program sets you up with a Media Center PC, home automation software, an Xbox 360 for gaming and serving as a Media Center Extender, two wireless cameras, a special thermostat, and an assortment of wires and devices that communicate over those wires.
Some friendly Best Buy employees will come out and plug everything in for you -- except for the high voltage bits, they suggest you get a licensed electrician to handle that part. And they'll give you instructions on how to use your new connected home. For $19.95 a month you can access all of your home's functions over the internet.
This is an all or nothing package. You can't substitute one item for another, so make sure you've done your homework before ordering.
Could you get all of these things for cheaper than $15,000? Probably. But isn't it worth paying a few extra bucks so you don't have to figure out exactly which pieces work together and how to configure your connected home?

1. It would be great if there was a Demo home set up already, that potential clients could access over the net to see what advantages they could benefit from, and to see how it all looks and works. Otherwise, awesome concept.
