Christmas movies bore me to tears which is a shame in my household because if there is a Christmas movie on TV, expecially if it's in black and white, my wife is all over it like a gaudy background image on a MySpace page.
For most movies I have a threshold of about 2-3 viewings before the sight of it makes me want to rinse my eyes out with Liquid Plumber, so it amazes me that people are able to watch the exact same movie over and over and over again every year.
Of course, this is coming from a guy who has seen Braveheart at least 30 times, which equates to around 88 man hours of viewing.
It's friggin' Braveheart though and of course an exception to the rule...
Anyhow, instead of listing my favorite Holiday movies or a guide on which to record, I'm going to list the Top Five Holiday sporting events worthy of your PVR.
There's nothing better than crunching a three-hour sporting event into a single hour of commercial and commentary-free viewing.
Well, except for reciting all the lines in Braveheart a second before the on-screen characters say them -- much to the dismay of anyone viewing it with you.
Good times.
1. Supersonics vs. Nuggets - Thu, Dec 28 - 10:30 PM - TNT
If you consider yourself a basketball fan, you may have heard that one of the baddest mother-shut-your-mouths to ever play the game was recently traded to the Denver Nuggets. Despite his thuggish-ruggish ways and at times, poor attitude -- Allen Iverson has put up some ridiculous numbers over the years and he doesn't even appear to have hit his prime. Here's your first opportunity to see him playing for the Nuggets (sadly without Melo for the time being) in a nationally televised event. I see good things for the Nuggets in the future assuming they can figure out how to get the number 1 and number 2 top scorers in the league an adequate number of shots that will satisfy them both.
2. Nearly any NFL game between now and the New Year - NBC, CBS, Fox, ESPN, and NFL Network
Do you like football? Do you realize that thanks to a sea of mediocre teams with mediocre records this year - a staggering 18 or so teams still have playoff hopes with only six spots remaining? Are you ready for some excitement?
3. Fiesta Bowl - Oklahoma vs. Boise State - Mon, Jan 1 - 8:30 PM - FOX
Being from Oklahoma, I'm biased on this one, but there's a couple of running plots to keep your eye on for this game.
For starters, Adrian Peterson, who is arguably one of the best running backs to ever grace the college gridiron (when healthy) may be playing his final game before catapulting to what should be a high NFL draft pick and a great NFL career.
Secondly, this is little old Boise States first trip to a BCS game. How's that for the heartlifting, underdog sports story of the year? I still hope Boise State gets murdered...
4. Lakers vs. Heat - Sun, Dec 25 - 9:00 AM - ESPN
Kobe vs. Shaq assuming he's okay to return from surgery with his bionic knee. This one speaks for itself. You can't forget that D. Wade will be there too.
And because this is getting too long and I can't think of another sporting event I'd like to TiVo:
5. Braveheart - Thu, Dec 28 - 11:00 PM and Fri, Dec 29 - 7:00 PM - BRAVO

1. Adrian Peterson one of the best college running backs of all time? Whhaaaaa?? How much kool-aid are you drinking buddy? Maybe he's one on the best RBs thats never won a Heisman but he is not even on the top 10 of all time.
Props though for not mentioning the Oregon v. Oklahoma game, if I hear one more OU fan cry about that game I'm going to throw up. I dont have a pony in this race to root for but since the OU fans have been so obnoxious this year I think I'll root against them. Go Broncos!!!!!!
