The folks at Slingbox seem to be on a mission to launch a major update once a week -- for at least one week. Anyway, hot on the heels of an update to SlingPlayer Mobile, Sling Media has launched a public beta of its updated client for Mac OS X.
The new client features several bug fixes, and support for OS X 10.3.9. Prior builds were only compatible with OS X 10.4.
The interface has also been redesigned to look a little more Mac-like than the previous release, which some users had claimed look like a Windows app ported to Mac. Really, imagine that.
Six weeks after releasing the public beta of Mac OS X SlingPlayer, Sling Media has taken the wraps off an updated client (build .128) containing numerous bug fixes, support for 10.3.9 (as shown above powering my TiVo Series3), and a slightly improved Mac look (though we still have a ways to go). Beta Manager Sharon Rylander writes:
This new beta release includes support for 10.3 and has many fixes to the first public beta version. It also sports a temporary new skin–a baby step in the Mac direction–while we continue to hone an all new look and feel. It might even get better gas mileage. Everyone currently using the Halloween release of SlingPlayer for Mac OS X should upgrade to this release.
