Here at PVR Wire we are a big fan of being able to take your television and video anywhere you want, we love portable media players and disruptive technologies like the Slingbox, but I think we have to draw the line when a device is priced at nearly $6000.
The F20WIRD is a portable compact 20inch TV for your car that costs $5999. That's pretty damn expensive way to keep the kids entertained in the back seat. I suppose you could also try putting the TV in the front of the car if you want a $6000 TV to distract you while you're driving and cause you to crash.
The compact TV hangs down from the roof of the Car and appears like it can fold away.
Here are the full specs of the device:
- 20" Widescreen TFT LCD
- DVD Player (DVD / VCD / CD-DA / CD-R/RW / MP3)
- Built in TV Tuner (NTSC-M,PAL/SECAM- ? B/G,D/K,I,L,MULTI)
- On-Screen-Display with Full Function Remote Control
- Audio R_L / Video input and Audio R_L / Video Output
- Aspect Ratio 16:9
- Built in IR Transmitter for Wireless Headphones
- Built in FM Transmitter
- Wide and Normal Screen Modes
- Resolution: 1388(RGB) X 788(V)
- Dimension: 516(w) x 446(H) x 86(D)(mm)
- Power: DC 12V or 24V, 5A
- Motorized UP-DOWN System (optional)

1. 1388x788 screen and no ATSC tuner, component/HDMI/DVI input, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, or satellite tuner? I suppose once you're spending $6k on a tv for the car then $1500 more for the roof mounted DirecTV dish isn't out of the question so you can at least make some use of that screen real estate.
I have a factory system in our Tahoe and think it's a life saver for road trips with the kids. This system however, does nothing to justify it's price.
