Nearly 4.3 million DirecTV subscribers are using advanced services, requiring set top boxes capable of high-definition, PVR, and Hi-def PVR functions. That's up from just 2.8 million a year ago.DirecTV held its quarterly investor conference call yesterday. The company's new HD PVR came up several times as a popular new offering for customers.
But DirecTV CEO Chase Carney says customers have a lot of questions about PVR features, " how does it work? How do I find my way around it? Do you get HD?"
To that end, he says the company plans to send every PVR customer a one-page "cheat sheet," with 20 facts about the PVR.

1. Anyone know what the cost of the HD PVR is? DTV sent me a flyer to come back with a promise of cheap HBO for a year and a free portable DVD player. They offered a choice of PVR or HD receiver; not both.
I am thinking I can wrangle them into the HD DVR but I am not certain what they are willing to do. Just looking for others' experience dealing with the DTV people.
