Being based in the UK, I don't know much about Comcast's PVR offering (although, I had some hands-on experience of TiVo when it was launched here, then promptly died). However, I was amused to read John Batelle's lengthy rant about how crap his Comcast PVR is. It's lyrical, thoroughly scathing and positively unforgiving.
It all started when his Series 2 TiVo packed in on him, and he decided to replace it with a Comcast HD PVR to benefit from the splendid new HD TV he had recently purchased.
Unfortunately, enjoyment on a TiVo scale was not the outcome.
Read, and take heed.

1. I've you've not used a DVR before one of the generic cable or satellite company boxes may seem great, but after using a TiVo I'd be surprised if I could to a lesser unit.
It's because of this that I predict the DirecTV branded generic DVRs will ultimately fail to reach penetration within the entrenched community of DirecTiVo users and that more of those users will end up with a Series3 and cable than will end up with a DirecTV DVR.
