No plans for a Zune launch in Europe
Okay, I find it hard to believe this is the final word, but according to the Microsoft UK Managing Director Gordon Frazer, there's currently no plan to release the Zune in the UK or anywhere else outside of the US.
Frazer says it's too early to say if and when Zune will come to the UK, saying only that Microsoft will be paying close attention to the US launch before making a decision.
In other news, Microsoft launched a new website to promote the Zune today, and a series of 5 commercial spots. To the extent that the ads mention the product at all, they seem to be focused on the music aspect, rather than video.
And the commercials emphasize sharing, although they obviously don't make it clear how strict the rules are for sharing music via WiFi. (You can only listen to a song sent to your Zune from another three times unless you purchase the track, and no matter how much the commercials make listening to a Zune look like a "social" experience, you can't actually listen to a track at the same time as someone else, so essentially these videos are filled with people lost in their own little worlds interacting clumsily with each other in the real world).

1. Insiders tell me that MS *suddenly* realized that they do need licensing for selling music in Europe which they obviously don't have. So no Zune for Europe for now.
