Watch TiVo in the back seat of your car

UVIA M100You know how minivans, SUVs, and other family-oriented vehicles often come with a TV display in the backs eat to keep the kids happy on long drives? Usually you can use these to watch DVDs or listen to music. But Unwired Vehicles is taking this trend to a whole new level.

Unwired's UVIA M100 uses an EV-DO connection to stream wireless media to your car at speeds of 400kbps to 2Mbps. You can use the box to play DVDs, and MP3s, or you can browse the web, play online games, and stream video from your home entertainment system using SlingPlayer if you have a Slingbox set up at home. In other words, you can watch cable, satellite, or PVR programming in your car (not recommended while driving).

Unwired Vehicles is demoing the system at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas this week. The M100 sells for $3500, and will be available in Arizona, California and Nevada in December, and throughout the country early next year. For that price, you'd better really love the person riding in the back seat of your car. Of course, that means if you don't buy this, then you probably don't really love your kids, or maybe you'd rather they just get car sick trying to read books during a long drive)
