The TiVo Series 3 is not very well supported in Canada and so won't be hitting mainstream there anytime soon. However, some of the more hardcore Canadian gadget lovers just can't resist trying it out. Dale Dietrich is just one of those people and could very well be the first owner of a Series 3 in Canada.
The major downside is that the TiVo does not receive a programming guide so has to be run in manual mode. This hasn't put Dale Dietrich off and he has written a brilliant detailed article about using the Series 3 in Canada.

1. Thanks for the post Chris. For clarity, the S3 does receive programming information for all analogue cable in Canada - some 70ish stations and works as usual for all analogue sources both cable and OTA. It's challenge is on the digital front. But I expect Tribune/TiVo to start providing digital (including HD) OTA programming information in the coming months after which the S3 will become a very viable PVR anyone in Canada EXCEPT those reliant on obtaining their programming from Satellite or digital cable sources.
Cheers.
