As with any other PVR-based software out there, MCE has its own intermittent patches and bug fix releases. The last major update to come out from Microsoft was Update Rollup 2, which is the base requirement for a lot of the newer software.Today Microsoft released a new rollup patch (kb925766) which is a cumulative update for patches released since Update Rollup 2, but Update Rollup 2 is still required. Although there does not seem to be anything earth shattering included with it, these types of patches are usually highly recommended to be installed.
One of the more interesting issues that are resolved with this update is a condition that exists when you try to playback protected content using Windows Media Player 11. The example cited in the knowledgebase article sates that Media Player 11 had issues saving licenses, so if you tried to watch protected recorded content from HBO or Showtime (just 2 examples), you would get errors after 3 days.
There are a couple of ways to get this update, which includes either using Windows/Microsoft Update (which can be found at http://update.microsoft.com), or you can download it directly from Microsoft through KB article 925766. Of note is that in order to download this release, your MCE device must pass the Windows Genuine Advantage test.

1. Since Vista has a built in Media Center, will this be the last update to XP MCE?
