While we're on the topic of remote controls, OneVoice will be releasing this one by the holiday season. It may not have a motion sensor, but it does have the benefit of making you look silly as you talk into it to use the Media Center Communicator software.
Surprisingly, the voice recognition software seemed to work pretty well, even on the noisy floor of Digital Life. There was a DJ in a nearby booth, and almost all of the voice commands were easily understood.
The remote works as a regular media center remote, but also has a button in the middle that you can push to make voice commands. this might not be that useful for saying things like "watch Live TV," which you could probably do with one button anyway. But if you want to find one song or album in your music collection among thousands of recordings, it works pretty well.
I asked how it handles fast and slow talkers, and the marketing rep told me that was one of the maini areas they'd focused on. The software is designed for U.S. English speakers, but he says it also does a good job of recognizing voices with a U.K accent.
The remote control and communicator software will retail for $250, the software alone is already available for $150, and no price has been set if you just want to buy the remote. Call me crazy, but I'm guessing it'll be somewhere around $100.
