i.Tech mobile PVR reviewed

i.Tech mobile PVR

The Star has a review of the new i.Tech Mobile Digital Video Recorder we told you about last month.

On the one hand, it does exactly what's it's supposed to. It lets you record shows in .3gp format to watch on your portable device or mobile phone. Not surprisingly, the videos don't look so good when you play them back on your full size TV screen. And it's kind of hard to do that, what with no remote control and no fast forward, rewind or pause buttons. Apparently you can only use the device to watch a video from start to finish.

Not that these mobile PVR devices should be confused with their cousins, the set top box or the home theater PC, but it'd be nice to have some basic functions, like being able to quickly check and make sure your show recorded before popping your storage card into your phone.

Anyway, it looks like the Neuros MPEG-4 recorder is still king of this market when it comes to functionality. It costs a little bit more, but you get what you pay for.
