Tenomichi, the world's leader in D3D Video, recently hooked up with NVIDIA to release some 3D media center software, appropriately named 3D Media Center.
The program gives you a three-dimensional carousel interface to interacting with the media that resides on your PC and includes a DVD (player thanks to NVIDIA's PureVideo decoder), a video and photo editor, and video transfers to phones, PSPs, and iPods.
According to the press release, TV will be added as a plug-in at some undetermined point in the future. In addition, 3D Media Center works with standard media center remotes which is a nice bonus.
Now, I'm going to be completely honest here. I toyed around with this application a bit this evening and I found it to be extremely unattractive. I was going to type the word ugly but I found that to be too harsh despite being completely appropriate.
My biggest gripe is the bizarre picture reminiscent of Loch Ness as the static background image, which I couldn't seem to find a way to change. Background images were meant to be changed. This is a cardinal rule.
I also wasn't overly impressed with the entire interface, but to save myself from reliving my frustrating time with the software, I'll let you be your own judge.
A video of the program in action is on the main page of Tenomichi website and a demo of the program can be found here.
3D Media Center will set you back $39.99 for the full version, with a free upgrade available when Vista is released.
