CBS teams up with YouTube

CBSCBS and Showtime plan to make content available via YouTube, including short clips from Survivor, CSI, The Late Show with Dave Letterman, CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, and Dexter, Brotherhood, Sleeper Cell, and The L Word from Showtime.

CBS and Showtime are the first two networks to partner in this way with YouTube, and they'll also be the first to test YouTube's new content identification system, which will notify content owners if a YouTube user uploads copyrighted material. The network can then decide whether to ask YouTube to remove the clip. If CBS decides to leave the clip on the site, they will share any ad revenue generated with YouTube.

It's always heartwarming to see major players in the content production and distribution industries work together to make large amounts of cash off of the little guy.
