How good is your driving? Do you think you could watch an episode of Lost while speeding down the freeway? If you do fancy a bit of thrill-seeking, then you could test your wits to the max as you enjoy a home cinema in the dashboard of your car from Pioneer.
The new Pioneer Raku-Navi In-car home cinema and navigation range offer a 7-inch 234 x 480 LCD screen, a DVD player, a built-in 30-GB hard drive, and an advanced navigation system. You only need video calling and you could be just like Austin Powers.
There are several models in the Raku-Navi series and the two HDD-based models, AVIC-HRZ99G and AVIC-HRZ88Ginclude are complete with terrestrial digital TV tuners.
You can reportedly rip CDs to the 30GB hard drive but there are no details on whether or not you can record or transfer video to the hard drive. It does of course have the potential to be an in-car PVR.
I think Pioneer considers this range to be a very advanced in-car navigation system with the entertainment side as a bonus, not a freeway entertainment killing machine. Users can control the system via voice control, a remote control and an on screen touch panel.
The Raku-Navi series of navigation/entertainment units are saved for the Japanese market at the moment
