To get this new series up and running, I thought I would start with something that almost all of us have a common interest in: the weather. These days there are multiple ways to check the weather: the news or weather channel, the internet -- or just plain old looking out the window. But for those of us who want to converge the technology in our life, we can use mceWeather to integrate forecasts right into our Windows Media Center PVRs.
mceWeather has a simple and straightforward interface that is quick to set up. Once you pop in a city, you will also have a chance to customize the metric scale, satellite maps, language, style and the weather icons. Once you have all of that in place, you can then choose to either see the current weather, an overview with a forecast or the satellite map.
mceWeather is a free download and it will also run as a standalone page inside of Internet Explorer 6 as well as on Media Center Extenders like the Xbox 360. If you are interested in mceWeather, check out http://www.scendix.com/mceweather/ for more information , in addition to links twhere you can download the plugin.
