Amazon Unbox Discussing Bringing Movie Downloads to TiVo

Amazon Unbox LogoTiVo is reportedly in discussions with Amazon over a new feature that would allow TiVo users to automatically transfer movie downloads to their set top box. This would be done in conjunction with Amazon's online movie download service, Amazon Unbox.

This recent news continues to show how closely tied internet video services are linked with living room PVRs.

"This deal could be the step toward bridging the gap between the home computer and the television set," said the New York Post.

If this deal goes ahead it could be a substantial kick against Apple's online movie store and new living room iTV set top box. Amazon already has rights to more movie studios than Apple, although it has not got Disney since Apple CEO, Steve Jobs is on Disney's board.

The new deal with TiVo would bring Amazon Unbox into the living room, like the Apple iTV is doing for the iTunes Movie Store. It could also mean that Amazon would enter the living room first since the Apple iTV is still just a prototype.
