According to Gizmodo, Microsoft has settled on a $229 price tag for the Zune media player, although that figure hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft yet.
Yesterday, we'd reported that a member of the Zune team had implied the price would be at or below $249. He subsequently went out of his way to point out that he wasn't saying anything that hadn't been implied by his superiors.
So perhaps $229 shouldn't be much of a surprise. It does seem like a competitive price for a 30GB device with WiFi and a decent sized screen. I hope it means a price war is coming.
In other news, Zuneguy Bill Wittress has some photos up of the factory where Zunes are being produced.
