Systemax has launched 3 new computers in what it's calling the Impact Mini-PC line and is shooting to capture the Mac-mini loving audience.
2 of the PCs use the Windows Media Center operating system making them prime candidates to act as your household PVR.
On the high end comes the Systemax Impact VXR2.
It sports a 1.66 GHz Core 2 processor on a 667 Mhz frontside bus, Intel integrated graphics, a gig of RAM, an 80 gig ard drive, a DVD-RW optical drive, 802.11b/g wireless networking, ATSC/NTSC hybrid television tuner, media center remote, 2 USB 2.0 ports 1 FireWire port, DVI video output, S-Video output, and S/PDIF digital audio.
All of this fits in a package 6.5 inches square and 2 inches tall which is a pretty impressive feat.
The second media center system, called the Impact VXR, offers a similar package, but uses a slower 1.6 GHz Duo mobile processor on a 533 MHz frontside bus and houses 512 MB RAM.
The third system we don't care about because it has no PVR capabilities.
The 3 Impact Mini-PCs will cost $899.99, $799.99, and $499.99 respectively, and will be available via Tiger Direct as early as October 1, 2006.
