As we reported earlier this month, Sling Media is beta testing Slingbox Mac client. This week, Sling Media's CEO, Blake Krikorian was interviewed by The Guardian. According to the article, Krikorian said the Mac client would be due out this week in the U.S. However according to Dave Zatz, Blake was misquoted by The Guardian. Although the private Mac Beta is alive and well, it will be a month or so until it is released publicly.
The Slingbox is a device that attaches to your home TV setup and allows you to stream TV shows, direct from your home, over the internet. This in turn allows you to watch regular TV channels on any internet enabled PC and some handheld devices. Unfortunately Mac users have been left out so far.
I'm sure some of you feel Mac support from Slingbox is already way overdue and waiting another month or so for a beta version might not be so appealing. There is always the Sony LocationFree that already supports Mac for those of you that just can't wait any longer.

1. I certainly wish I had seen this article before I ordered a new slingplayer AV from the slingmedia store. The store says the Mac version is shipping. Of course, it's not. I received mine today, sans Mac Sling Player software. Just a reference in the pre-printed glossy 'quick start' brochure sending me to the slingmedia website to download the player. Of course, it's not there, either. It's vaporware. They gladly took my money, said nothing, and shipped me something I can't use. Slingmedia is zero in my book.
