TiVo acting a little slow lately? You might just be able to blame it on your kids and their inability to handle mature programming of an adult nature. (Come on kids, grow up already).
As discussed on the TiVo Help Forums, it seems some users are reporting a significantly slower TiVo ever since the most recent 7.3.1 update was unveiled and/or activation of the recently released KidZone on their units.
In a commendable effort to shield their children from the deplorable content on television, some TiVo users say they've been met by some unintended consequences.
Posters on the board have reported seeing delays during channel changing, slow banner changes, slow response to remote control commands, slow menus, lost cable signals, slow deleting of items, occasional lock-ups, and forced reboots with no alleviation of symptoms post reboot.
Some people have also posted acknowledgement by TiVo of the issue, but no date as to when they can expect the problem to be fixed. The update, KidZone, and these alleged issues have been around for over a month now, so there's quite a few unhappy subscribers out there getting more frustrated by the day.
I for one have not activated KidZone because my munchkin is just a little over 5 months old, and she can hardly see straight let alone realize that mar mar and dar dar are watching Dennis Leary and Marisa Tomei make-out on an episode of Rescue Me. I was going to activate KidZone just to do a write-up on it, but thakfully, I've procrastinated long enough that I can wait a little longer to see if this issue gets cleared up.
We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this topic to see if anything further develops.

1. We haven't activated Kidzone either, but both of our units are reallly sluggish. Takes nearly 2-3 seconds for it to respond to a button push and about the same for a recording to start to play. Tried restarting both of them but it didn't help.
