2. Anybody have a confirmed date when I can pick it up from the store? I know I've heard the rumors about 9/17 (which is a Sunday, how many hardware releases are on Sundays?), but anyone have a hard date. I've been waiting patiently for this one and it seems to be getting closer. Of course, now I need to get the HDTV to go along with it...

3. And what store can someone walk out of to retrieve such a treasure right now?

4. Seems to be missing the inputs jack-pack - looks great for those interested in unreliable and incompatability prone at best QAM/Cable card featureless source material. But what about the external sources like satellite and 2-way feature filled HD cable boxes, etc. I understand the content providers make it difficult to record anything in the HD digital media world, but it doesnt hold much promise for the otherwise anxiously anticipated Tivo series 3. Does the front panel light up real pretty, because other than that I don't have much use for it. And I was such a fan of Tivo back when it was useful.

5. Any word on Tivo's deal with Comcast and when they will ship the Tivo Series 3 instead of the horrible Motorola devices currently available?

9. Jonathan: There have always been two sets of A/V outputs on TiVo devices. I guess one possible use might be hooking it up to a VCR to record your shows.

10. #5 (Jonathan Keim) current TiVo's have two sets RCA outputs as well, most often you will see one port going to the TV and the other going to a VCR or maybe a surround sound reciever.
Also like the current Series2, there is a single S-Video output.
Like the Humax DVD recorder Series2 there is component output.
The HDMI output is unique to the Series3.

11. One coax connection says antenna, the other cable. Does anyone know if two over-the-air antenna cables be connected for a 100% over the air DVR solution. I currently use the Sony DHG-HDD500 DVR for over-the-air HD recordings, but the lack of dual tuners on that model is the only drawback. Are there any other non-cable TV users who would like this dual tuner HD Tivo for over-the-air HD antenna use?

13. $799???
Are you serious?
TIVO...what's up with that? I have a cable box that already has twin HD tuners and it only costs me 12 bucks a month....
If I buy your machine, your talking $799, plus $12.95 a month...this sounds a little INSANE. The box is already a year late. Guys, adjust the price...please. Cut us in on that settlement money you just got from Dish...or was it DirectTV? or is that still on appeal?

17. I don't understand how Comcast can legally distribute this box WITHOUT the required firewire ports!

18. Wow. After dropping 8 bills a few years ago on an HD TiVo that I had to give up from D* when I moved, I just don't know if I can drop another 8 on this thing. But getting away from the crappy amount of video in HD I can record on the Motorola devices on my Comcast network, I'd love something new.
19. #2 lots of hardware debuts on Sunday due to Sunday ad circulars/papers put out by many of the electronics stores. But most equipment does not draw the attention of the S3 so it really isn't noticed, of course the big games like xbox360/ps2/3 are exceptions and usually have a specific release date. #12 ?: No it will not have component inputs, if your using it with your cableco then hook up to the cable input.
#11 not sure but good possibility it has two internal atsc tuners like the directv hd tivo. one RF antenna feed is split internally to two atsc tuners.

20. #16 the S3 will not be distributed by comcast. It is a standalone tivo unit. The deal between comcast and tivo will be for tivo software on comcast boxes.
