Everyone else is blogging about the early-release prices for Microsoft's Vista operating system, which may, or may not be available at some point in the near (or far flung) future.
As you'll find on most other blogs, Amazon is now accepting pre-orders for the software, which could be a bit on the premature side, since it's probably not going to hit the streets until some time in mid-2007, and will most likely be full of bugs until Service Pack 1 is released some time later next year.
However, it's worth noting that Amazon is charging $239 for a full version of Vista Home Premium and $159 for an upgrade. Home Premium includes the Media Center and Tablet PC capabilities, which will be of interest to PVR Wire readers.
All joking and deriding aside, I'm personally looking forward to trying Vista; it'll be the first real Microsoft operating system to take a step closer to Windows PCs being more "media friendly" and less like business machines, and with most PCs being packaged with TV capture cards these days, it'll introduce millions of home users to the joys of a PC-based PVR.
Even if it is a bit on the flaky side at times - oh, and there's no HD.
