It looks like there's another player in the place-shifting market. Snappy Multimedia is pushing a new box, called the Hava, that appears to have pretty much the same functionality as a Slingbox. But it can also serve as an 802.11g access point, and can connect to a home network via Wi-Fi without any additional hardware. The box, which goes for $199, takes a signal from your PVR, cable, or satellite signal and streams it to your computer in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats.

1. And won what platforms will the clients run? If they're not supporting Windows, Mac, PDA's, and phones, then they need to leave the market to Slingbox. Place-shifting needs to be multi-platform or it's worthless.
