There's been plenty of hoo-ha over the past week about Microsoft's plans (or lack thereof, as the case may be), to release a portable/personal media player of their own to rival Apple's iPod.Details on the unit are still a bit on the sketchy site, with reports varying from suggestions of the device having a bigger screen, wif-fi, transfering of all iTunes-purchased music over to Microsoft's new system -- to other reports about the iTunes-killer itself being an improvement over what's currently on offer from Steve Jobs and Co.
This week, news is also emerging to suggest that the device will closely integrate with the new XBox 360, which could potentially give the device a huge starter with a boost from the one market where Apple can't even begin to compete.
Codenamed Argo (after the ship Jason and his Argonauts travelled in to steal the Golden Fleece), it sounds promising, and could certainly provide a credible alternative to the over-hyped, over-sold, over-re-marketed iPod family of devices and finally give Apple a run for its money from the world's biggest software company. I really hope it can record video, as well as play it back.
Expect more news from Redmond soon.

1. It looks like Microsoft is going to conquer the world. Soon they will release ANYTHING. Imagine, even food is developed by Microsoft. Scary future, heh?
