As reported on numerous PVR-related weblogs and other
techie news sites and blogs, the jury in the TiVo v EchoStar case has found in favor of the plaintiff, causing a 20
percent surge in TiVo shares. The jury awarded TiVo more than $73million in damages, and the company will now seek a permanent injunction against EchoStar's current range of PVR products.
This is by no means the end of the process; EchoStar has released a statement to say it will appeal against the decision, and remains confident of it being overturned.
The company will now look forward to its own lawsuit against TiVo in January 2007.
