If, like me, you're one of those people who are skeptical of Macs, the iTunes Music Store and Apple in general, you should read Cyrus Farivar's review of the video Multi-Pass option for downloading video at iTMS.Cyrus generally watched shows that he'd missed in the same way that most savvy web users do; via BitTorrent websites and other such "illegal" downloading tools. However, he decided to give the Multi-Pass options at iTMS a whirl, and found it quite satisfying indeed.
He cites a number of main reasons for this newfound happiness (not least of all because it gives him another reason to worship at the Temple of Jobs), but chief among them were the cheapness of an entire series of a given show using the Multi-Pass option, and not having to suffer adverts -- combined with the PVR-style convenience of being able to watch, pause, and rewind programs at will on his beloved Mac.
When you compare the total price for a season of a few of your favorite shows (presuming iTMS offers them) to the cost of a cable or satellite subscription, it seems a fairly decent deal.
The video download options at iTunes hasn't fully arrived in the U.K. yet (well, you can get some videos, but not stuff like Lost or Desperate Housewives) -- but I haven't been able to get past the sign-up stage, despite numerous emails to Apple's customer service -- and all because I want to pay with PayPal.
