with the notion of a domesticated product like TiVo or a digital recorder, and going straight for the DIY option. His excellent article takes you through the steps from getting a hold of a decent TV capture card and some software, to making the whole thing work -- and includes several screen grabs and some solid recommendations, plus links to instructions on how to put it all together.
He plumped for a Hauppauge PVR-150 and SageTV -- and cataloged the results in his DIY-PVR item.
