A selection of ABC shows such as Commander in Chief, Alias, Lost and Desperate
Housewives will be made available for free on the internet at ABC.com in May and June, the day after they are
first broadcast. The move is part of a two-month trial by Disney/ABC to test the viability of the download market and develop income streams from the rapidly-declining market for prime-time shows.
Apparently, viewers will be able skip between chapters within an individual episode, but not bypass ads that are embedded in the download.
Now, apart from the annoying method of forcing people to watch ads, I have one question about this: if Disney are offering me shows like Lost for free, why should I bother paying for it on iTunes Music Store?
I appreciate it's a trial, but won't this hit Apple's current deal with ABC in the hip pocket for a couple of months?

1. uh, so you DON'T have to watch the commercials.
