At least
two online retailers are offering the place-shifting Slingbox for under $200. The list price is $269.99, but Amazon.com is offering it for
$199.99 and J&R Music and Computer World is selling it for $198.99 (through Amazon.com's site). Other online
retailers like Target are still selling it for $249.99.For those who don't know, Sling Media's Slingbox lets you watch live and recorded TV shows on your PC from anywhere that has high-speed Internet access. It's received rave reviews, although I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Stuck in a hotel in Tokyo? You can use Slingbox to watch your TiVo-recorded programming. It also sounds like a good way to waste time at work (though when you work at home like I do, you're surrounded by TV sets and have little need to watch TV on your PC).
Anyhow, if you've been meaning to buy Slingbox anyway, check out the $50 savings at Amazon.com. And with orders over $25, you get free shipping.
