Online retailers offering Slingbox for under $200

At least two online retailers are offering the place-shifting Slingbox for under $200. The list price is $269.99, but Amazon.com is offering it for $199.99 and J&R Music and Computer World is selling it for $198.99 (through Amazon.com's site). Other online retailers like Target are still selling it for $249.99.

For those who don't know, Sling Media's Slingbox lets you watch live and recorded TV shows on your PC from anywhere that has high-speed Internet access. It's received rave reviews, although I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Stuck in a hotel in Tokyo? You can use Slingbox to watch your TiVo-recorded programming. It also sounds like a good way to waste time at work (though when you work at home like I do, you're surrounded by TV sets and have little need to watch TV on your PC).

Anyhow, if you've been meaning to buy Slingbox anyway, check out the $50 savings at Amazon.com. And with orders over $25, you get free shipping.

2. Every now and then Amazon and others drop it down to ~$200 then raise it back up. Not sure how or why that happens, though obviously the time to buy is when you can save 50 bones.

Alric, both those clients seem pretty close. From what I've read the PPC software *may* have a fee, but I'm not entirely sure and Sling's been mum.

You mean the ones promised way back at product launch? Good luck...I gave up on Slingmedia's interest in Mac users a loooooong time ago.

Here's hoping, I'm waiting to buy one until Mac support is here, but with $50 savings at the moment from Amazon, I'm tempted to just place the order and let it gather dust until the software is released.

7. It's cool, except for the fact that multiple people can't be viewing it at the same time. Ruins our idea of Slingbox for everyone at work.
