HBO wants to stop PVRs recording its content

HBOThe more I write for PVR Wire, the more convinced I am that the single issue I will probably write more about than anything else in the future will undoubtedly focus on the battle between nice big cuddly television and movie studios, and the mean old nasty people who invent innovative technologies to make our consumption of video a richer experience.

HBO has now joined the debate by filing an argument with the FCC calming that its video-on-demand content and subscription services should fall into a category of Thou Shalt Not Copy. You don't need me to explain that one to you, folks.

The filing specifically targets on-demand content, but it would set a bad precedent if legislated for, as it wouldn't be too long before all content was labeled "on-demand" to prevent users from making legitimate copies to watch at a later date.

Do these people even understand the concept of premium rate subscription fees?
