Microsoft testing Window Media Center Edition streaming?

Windows Media Center EditionVarious reports are emerging today to suggest that Microsoft is currently working on a Slingbox-style of software application that would allow Windows XP Media Center Edition users to watch programs stored on their PC from anywhere in the world over an Internet connection.

Unlike Slingbox, the service would only allow viewing of content already stored on the user's PC, not live feeds, and would be accessed via a web interface.

A development like this could present Microsoft with all sorts of patent infringement issues, not to mention the displeasure of broadcasters who are already trying to figure out how to combat the threat of the Slingbox.
