Apparently, DirecTV has sent out a second software update to its new PVR, after users complained of sluggish and what USA Today calls "occasionally idiosyncratic performance." Says DirecTV Chief Technology Officer Romulo Pontual, "Some things are not as intuitive as we thought, and we're polishing it."
As you may recall, the new PVR is supplied by News Corp.'s NDS Group. News Corp. controls DirecTV. While the company no longer markets TiVo, customers can ask for it instead of the new PVR. The DirecTV Plus DVR has a full $100 rebate on it.
You can read more details in the USA Today story.

1. Now just imagine how much fanfare DirecTV would get if they actually enabled the HME options on their TiVo units and re-upped their contract with TiVo instead of dumping them for uncle Rupert Murdoch's failure of an investment (NDS)?
If DirecTV enabled HME and made an announcement that they'd be offering HD DirecTiVos that were compabile with their MPEG4 transition, I certainly would no longer be a Comcast subscriber.
