NBC is about to beat ABC by a buck. That's the difference in price that NBC will soon be charging DirecTV PVR owners to watch commercial-free programs originally aired on NBC, USA, Sci Fi and Bravo.
ABC currently charges $1.99 to download some shows through iTunes. NBC will charge only 99 cents to watch programs on demand through the DirecTV PVRs. The NBC-DirecTV deal is part of the satellite TV company's move from marketing TiVo units to pushing their own PVRs.
Thanks to Dave Zatz.

1. They might be beating iTunes/ABC by a buck, but it's still $.99 too much. It's not an apples to apples comparison (forgive the pun). If you have a PVR in the first place, there's no need to pay for on demand content unless, of course you missed a show b/c of the lack of dual-tuner (get a move on, Tivo!) and a show conflict. iTunes TV is all about portable content and static content for those without a PVR.
