TiVo and Yahoo are partnering on an interesting project that allows the PVR company's users to schedule their programs on Yahoo's site. In exchange, TiVo will show some Yahoo content to TiVo users on their TV screens.
You can register for the service here. You need a Series 2 TiVo unit. You can see a screenshot of the service on the top of this post. One glitch I found: On the Set Your Listings Provider page, I received a "Document not found" error when trying to choose my cable TV or local over-the-air channels. After I refreshed the page, the problem disappeared.
"In the coming months," according to the companies' press release, Yahoo will supply photos, traffic and weather to TiVo users. AOL members already can remotely schedule their TiVo through the online service. But in that partnership, TiVo did not use AOL's content. TiVo users also can remotely schedule programs on the TiVo Web site.
TiVo's shares were up 6 percent, or 30 cents, this morning on the news.
