2. Absolutely! I have been enjoying XBMC for a couple of years now (actually, I enjoyed XBM Player for the first year, then upgraded). Too date, I haven't seen a more cost effective or rock solid solution to surpass this setup. On top of it all, I recently discovered that the old Xbox can actually play DivX HD content perfectly - I was completely surprised when I tested this out.

Unfortunately, this is definitely a project for the more technically inclined. Modding your box via chip on the motherboard still takes some work and time, even though the process hasn become very much pain free over the years. I highly recommend Xecuter brand chips - save yourself the money and get the gen 3 versions (gen 4 has some nice stuff, but costs a bit more). SmartXX isn't bad either - I have never done a soft-mod, so can't speak for that world, but will consider doing it with a second box soon (for the bedroom!).

3. Sure short on details. Anyone else here doing this with a Mac who could share their experiences? Is there anything special about Divx HD besides it's being 720p or whatever?
