Dwight at TechBlog has posted a lengthy item on the DRM scare and managed to get a response from Jim Denney, director of product marketing for TiVo, who said the shows being affected were "false positives," and reports appearing on the Web are probably cases where TiVo misinterprets noise in the signal as a copy-protection flag.
Uber-blogger Cory Doctorow at Boing Boing gave TiVo a bit of a hammering for the problem and is suggesting TiVo alternatives, while Jason Kottke also posted a small entry about it on his personal blog.
Worse still, it's been Slashdotted -- which is starting to add up to one of those major publicity headaches TiVo could probably be doing without.
Would you give up your TiVo if this continues to be a problem? Let us know in the comments section below.
