If you thought our recent U.K.-centric PVR reviews were pretty far-flung, how about this: the New Zealand subsidiary of Sky Television has announced the release of the familiar Sky+ PVR service, re-named "My Sky" for its NZ launch, which is due to hit homes in the Antipodes on Dec. 5. The service will offer the same features as the U.K. Sky+ service, such as one-touch-recording, a fully integrated electronic program guide, simultaneous dual-tuner recording, time-shifting, instant-rewind and access to more than 80 satellite channels on Sky Television, all for a one-off connection fee of $599 (NZD), plus subscription.
The set-top box included with a "My Sky" subscription will also be capable of recording up to 60 hours of television.
