Nearly half our readers have HDTV-capable PVR

 HDTV poll

Earlier this month, we conducted a poll on whether our readers' PVRs could record in HDTV. After 400 votes, the results are in.

Nearly half -- 49 percent -- of respondents say they have an HDTV-capable PVR, while 19 percent don't have a high-def box and don't plan to buy one. Another 25 percent of voters say they plan to buy, rent or lease a HDTV PVR unit. Seven percent of respondents said they don't have a PVR.

I'm surprised by the 49 percent figure. I didn't think HDTV penetration was that deep in the PVR world. Or it could be that our readers are more "sophisticated" than the average PVR user. In either case, it lets us know that HDTV should be an important part of our coverage. Thanks for everyone who voted!
