PVR users have doubled in the past year, with about 8 percent of U.S. households owning one of the devices, according to new research from Durham, N.H.-based Leichtman Research Group Inc.Not surprisingly, at least to us, is the finding that 88 percent of those PVR owners said they skipped commercials when they watch recorded programs. The study also found that 88 percent of adults nationwide have heard of PVRs, up from 74 percent last year.
The findings are based on a survey of 1,350 U.S. households and are part of the firm's study, "On-Demand TV 2005: A Nationwide Study on VOD and DVRs." You can read the press release here.
