As our sister site Engadget reported earlier today, the Slingbox hit the streets today. In case you missed out on the announcement, let's recap what the Slingbox is and what it can "sling."
Slingbox is a hardware-based add-on that allows you to "placeshift" your television viewing to any computing device with an Internet connection. A broadband connection is recommended if you plan to "sling" your audio and video signal beyond the confines of your home network. The Slingbox can also control your TiVo or other PVR unit via the included SlingPlayer software, allowing you to placeshift your timeshifted programming.
Sounds like a whole lot of shifting going on, but total control of your digital content is pure bliss. For $249 you can sling programming from your satellite or cable set-top box in addition to your PVR.
